The Lord of the Fries store located in Newtown was the first store of this successful vegan style fast food franchise that we had undertaken. Initially we spent time working with Lily and Ramon to overcome challenges with their design, designers and the DA component of their fitout process. Thankfully in the end all design, site and Council issues were rectified, and we were in a position to commence works in mid-January 2019.
The site was a very old building and had some major headaches to overcome with regards to rising damp out the back of the building, installing the required grease trap and installing the ventilation system. There was also demolition of some very old mirrors, wallpaper and paint over the existing brick walls required. You are never sure what you are going to uncover when you start taking off old components in a fitout, but we went for it anyway. We had wins and losses once we started removing these old coverings but all and all there was nothing we couldn’t overcome and some blessings that occurred along the way. The greatest win was removing the paint on the walls in the main customer and the back-office area to expose the beautiful bricks underneath. It was a painstaking process but worth it nonetheless!
In the end the transformation of the site was remarkable given what we started with! The layout was super practical and made the most of the space available and the finishes were clean and stylish and certainly transformed the space from the rundown retail store it was before. Lily and Ramon were great to work with and in the end the project was made all the more enjoyable by their presence onsite.
